I believe that at some point in our lives all of us feel we’ve lost our way, can’t find motivation, or wonder “what’s the point?”. Is this you right now? Sometimes our disconnection to the world happens through losses in our lives. Have you recently experienced loss? We don’t just have losses through death – there are many ways we experience loss in our lives. We lose relationships, jobs, hopes, dreams, envisioned futures, abilities, and, unfortunately, many other things and experiences. If you’ve experienced loss, your losses deserve grieving. Have you done this grief work?
I am a graduate of the University of Central Florida’s top-ten nationally ranked mental health counseling Masters program, with experience working with clients finding meaning in life while living through depression, anxiety, life transitions, chronic disease, grief, loss, aging, caregiving, dementia, memory loss, end-of-life discussions, and many other issues. I believe that you are the expert on yourself. Together we can create a compassionate and non-judgmental space where you can explore and experiment with new solutions. I use an integrative counseling approach tailored to your needs, incorporating both Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I am also trained in sand tray therapy and expressive arts, which can be helpful for all ages (not just children!) when you just don’t seem to have the words to understand what you feel and experience.
Although it can be difficult and painful, I believe in post-traumatic growth, that our biggest difficulties in life are also our biggest opportunities to learn and to grow. You can choose to embrace the difficulties in your life as opportunities to become your best self. In the words of Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, “The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths. These persons have an appreciation, a sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness, and a deep loving concern.
