Risa Bos makes your mental and emotional health a top priority

Individual and Couples Counseling, Anxiety and Trauma, EMDR, Hypnosis, Addiction

It is sometimes suggested that people who need therapy are weak—quite the contrary!  People who care enough about their mental well-being to seek counseling are the strong, fortunate ones. In my years of counseling experience, I have cultivated a positive approach to therapy that focuses less on the problem, and more on your strengths and how we can work together to maximize those assets.  I believe that we all have within us the ability to be happy, and that happiness is a choice.  We make that choice by deciding to focus on deliberate, positive things rather than feeling defeated and stuck in our wounds.  In working with adults individually and as couples, I use a gentle, positive approach that encourages clients to deal with uncomfortable feelings, so that they can address the mental health disorders that have kept them from achieving the life they envisioned for themselves.

I have seven years of experience working with anxiety, depression, trauma, addictions, couples issues and a myriad of other mental health concerns.  I am a qualified provider of EMDR and clinical hypnosis, specialized techniques shown to be effective for treating many emotional conditions. I am trained in the Gottman method of couples counseling, which emphasizes connectedness and communication.  I received my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from the prestigious Rollins College, and I am licensed by the Florida Department of Health as a mental health counselor.

Having been in recovery for eight years, I can attest to the freedom and distinct joy that comes from conquering one’s addiction.  I understand the compulsion to use substances, despite sometimes catastrophic consequences, in an attempt to self-medicate emotional issues.  I have worked with countless addicts and alcoholics, and have helped them wrestle free from their own addictions and reclaim their lives.  Life is beautiful, and experiencing life sober and free from the clouds of addiction is within your reach!

The greatest journey begins with a single step, and seeking professional guidance is a great first step to take. I can help you navigate the turbulent waters of emotional issues that may have kept you stuck in your life, and robbed you of the joy and happiness that you deserve.  Make your emotional health a priority today, rather than someday—your life is now!

I can be reached by phone at 407-234-4861 or email at bos.counseling@gmail.com for a free consultation or to set up an appointment.
