It is not too late to map a path for the best 2021 possible?
As I finished writing the last pages of the last chapter of my book of 2020 and this decade, I found myself dreaming about what I would write in my 2021 life plan book.
Remembering that I am the author of the book of my life is both empowering and overwhelming. I can write the book or I can outsource the writing to a ghostwriter, giving away the power to interpret the events and meaning my story tells.
I am choosing to write my own book, by mapping a path to where I want to be at the end of the book of my year.
2020 has taught me that while I may map a path, all I am actually in control of is how I respond and feel about the twists and turns and hills and valleys that I encounter along the way.
There is a part of me that is tempted to say, “F… plans. Plans go awry. Plans lead to feelings of disappointment. Plans are a waste of my time.”.
The other part, the part that I have given the job of guide, reminds me that without a plan, the destination is out of my hands.
So I have divided my book into chapters, knowing that my consistent attention to the plot I envision will lead to a conclusion that is exhilarating and satisfying.
This year I have chosen a plot driven by the desire to live from a consistent place of equanimity; a state of mental calmness, composure, and evenness of temper, especially in a difficult situation.
This plot will be revealed through chapters that explore the many aspects of my life; physical, spiritual, intellectual, recreational, nutritional, health, social, fun, growth, family, friends, partnership, financial, giving, professional, travel, and home.
I’m outlining my chapters with these 17 areas, ensuring a clear plan, a what, where, why, when and how. I’m beginning with the end of my year’s book in mind.
I see you too, creating an abundant new year.
