Hi, my name is Elena Sledge and I am excited to be working with Life Skills Resource Group!

My journey to becoming a therapist really started when I first became a client at age 19. In college I began to see how much others around me were suffering. Life felt confusing and complicated and depressing for many of my peers. I was in the same boat. I had no idea what to expect or what therapy really was, but I began going to sessions. During that process, I was inspired by my therapist and all that she had done for me. Therapy really transformed my life and I felt that I wanted to assist others on their own paths towards truth and peace. I felt that everyone could benefit from seeing a compassionate counselor.

I decided to change my major from graphic design to psychology with the goal of getting my masters degree in the future. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Spring Hill College and several years later earned my Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Montevallo. I have completed two play therapy courses and provide play therapy for children as well.

I began my career by working in a clinic as the child and adolescent therapist. Since then I have continued working with children, adolescents, families and adults. I currently work in an elementary school as well to help children with coping skills, emotional development and any other mental health needs they may have. I work with individuals to address depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, identity, low self esteem and more.

I am particularly passionate about taking a holistic approach. None of us are isolated in our environments and so many factors contribute to our overall health. I aim to look at relationships, experiences, self-care practices, family and more when working with a client. I find that everything is connected within us and around us.
