Hi, my name is Juliana Ochoa and I am very happy and excited to be joining the wonderful team of Orlando counselors and life coaches at Life Skills Resource Group.
Meet Juliana OchoaI look forward to meeting you! In the meantime, I will share a little about myself and why I became a therapist.
I have been interested and fascinated by peoples’ stories for as long as I remember. Being allowed into these worlds, whether through books, films, art, or music, fills my heart with gratitude and joy. Even in moments of pain, the intricate journey out of this pain makes me feel like we really are all in this (life) together. I find great comfort in that, and in my personal and professional relationships, this sense of connection has the most meaning.
I know fear and I know deep sadness, but I also know a way out of it – being loving and grateful, in the present moment, towards myself and everyone and everything around me. Every day. Life is a practice, and so sometimes we do a great job at being kind and compassionate, and sometimes we struggle. But the point is to get up in the morning and try again. I think it is important and necessary to acknowledge the pain, and I also believe there is a way of letting it go so that we can live happier and healthier lives. Being able to do this takes practice, and I can help by standing with you as you find your way to a more solid and connected place. You have some tools already at your disposal. Combining these strengths with new and helpful tools, I can help you find peace and joy again.
I did not grow up wanting to be a counselor. And truth be told, I only went to see a counselor because I knew a professor in college who I really liked and respected, and she happened to be a counselor. So, I understand feeling nervous or unsure about seeking counseling, because I have been there. I felt stuck at the time, and having someone offer a safe and non-judgmental place for me to work out some of the things holding me back was one of the greatest gifts I have ever been offered. Since that time, I have really tried to offer the same degree of compassion and understanding to every person and client that I meet.
I started my career working with children and families in a community-based care setting, and have worked in the school system with children, adolescents, and their families the past three years. I am currently a bilingual counselor in an elementary school, where I work with children dealing with issues such as divorce, loss of a family member, anxiety, anger problems, a substance-abusing parent, low self-esteem and behavioral challenges. In addition to being a child counselor, I also work with individuals to address stress, worry, anxiety, depression, and multicultural issues that may include relocation and subsequent adjustment issues.
